Since 1986 Chuck’s School of Karate has been offering outstanding instruction in traditional karate to the citizens of Pendleton, Oregon and the surrounding area. Come participate in a living tradition and see what traditional karate is all about.
Here anyone over 5 years of age can jump right in and learn Traditional Shito-ryu style Karate-do with other like-minded individuals as everyone trains together to strengthen their minds and bodies.
During training in the beautiful and deadly art of The Way of Empty Hand, students will be encouraged to cultivate the traditional values of Karate-do:

Art
Karate-ka (karate students) find expression in an exquisite and intense style of art as they perform katas (forms [above]) and kobudo (weapons forms).
Performing katas allows students to polish their karate skills. As an added bonus, they also learn how to overcome stage fright!
Sport
Students also get ample chances to test their developing skills and compete with fellow dojo members by partaking in kumite (sparring [above]) matches.
Control and precision are emphasized at all times. We're here to learn and have fun with our sparring. No oversized egos allowed!
Self-Defense
Of course, Karate is not all fun and games. Classes consist of many exercises, such as 3-Step Sparring (above), that are each designed to help students master sensible and applicable self-defense skills.
A proactive mindset is emphasized, training students to become more aware of their environment and thereby avoid hazardous situations as much as possible. Safety is our #1 priority!

Those who desire further competition in both kata and kumite will have ample opportunities to sign up for tournaments with other martial art schools both near and far.
